There is also a very small airport in Tivat which is closer to the city of Budva. It’s an international airport like the one in Podgorica, but you typically won’t find as good of deals out of Tivat (but it’s still worth looking out for!). One of the biggest pulls to Montenegro is the beach, and honestly? You’ll have over 100 to explore so even if you spent every vacation day you got on the beaches in Montenegro, you wouldn’t see them all. From Tivat airport to Tivat or from Podgorica airport to the city. It turns out significantly cheaper than a transfer. Usually there is a chance to get a ride for normal price even with a “individual driver” if you make a good bargaining before that. Most taxi companies do not have websites.

There is that much to do and it’s tough to pick what makes the top of the list, but here are a few things to start getting excited about. All companies that sell transfers promise English-speaking drivers. In practice, some are almost fluent, most are average, but all are able to communicate in basic English. In summer, in all tourist places, the maximum fare is usually 1-1.5 € ≈ 1.05 $, 0.86 £, 3.86 Dh, 18.24 ₺ per km.

Ordinary tourists do not need all this. It is important to simply understand that any prices on blogs and forums are just a guideline. You can always check the current prices from transfer companies. Coke and other soft drinks and juices will cost from €1.50 up to €3.50. Local beer costs an average of €2.50 and mixed drinks can go from €7 and up. Along the entire promenade there are many fast food places, offering barbecue, giros, pancakes, slices of pizza, icecream…with affordable prices. A McDonalds seasonal restaurant is open on the promenade during the summer. Some tourists may find Budva disappointing and cheesy because of the over-crowded beaches filled with chairs, umbrellas and loud music in some places. Prices for food and accommodation are also well above what can be found in less popular resorts.

Taxi waiting time is approximately 3-6 minutes. Most taxi drivers don’t carry much change, so it’s best to have coins to pay. Your first contact with taxi drivers will probably happen in one of two Montenegrin airports. Tivat is a nightmare, where a couple of dozens of taxi drivers will aggressively offer their services. Podgorica Airport is much better, as drivers are polite and there aren’t as many. Boat and Bike holiday is a unique way to explore.

If you live in a hotel, the driver already knows where it is. But it is simply impossible to know everything about Apartment Budva or Apartment Elena. Then it is better to check with the hostess in advance the name of the nearest restaurant or any noticeable “checkpoint”. I gathered all the answers to those questions that once interested me most. After all, I have a reputation as an “experienced” traveler, so everyone is turning for advice.

Therefore, I decided to spend a dozen hours and tell you what and how it works here. For taxis, know that the price is always negotiable. It’s best to bargain and agree on a price before ever getting into a cab. Cabs are typically most aggressive outside of the airport (particularly in Tivat, but there are some instances of that in Podgorica). If you’re in the city and need to get a cab, have your hostel call ahead to grab you one and make sure the meter is flipped on before you get into the car. There are tons of tour guides that also arrange pickups.

In “Rijeka Crnojevica” biking and than transfer again in Budva around 1 pm. Stop in front of Sveti Stefan island for swimming and lunch onboard. Start sailing and 2nd stop for swimming in Pecin Bay. Arrive in Bar marina around 6 pm and visit with guide to “Start Bar” ( Old Bar ).

In one of them, the Bujevic’s palace, the Town Museum is located. There is a very interesting historical story saying that the Russian soldiers used to come in Perast to learn sailing skills and that it was known as a cradle of the Russian fleet. There are two islets around Perast town – Gospa od Skrpjela(Lady of Skrpljel) halo taxi podgorica and St Gorge, both unique tourist attractions. Two Thirds of Skadar Lake is in Montenegro and rest one third is in Albania.
